GOATSTOWN was filmed in 1999 & was Mandie's first film as PRODUCER & DIRECTOR. Hired by Anthony Campbell-Black (Tony Black) who was EXECUTIVE PRODUCER as well as LEAD ACTOR (lots of stress). Cullen Black was ASSOC. PRODUCER, Colin Larsen was appointed DIRECTOR of PHOTOGRAPHY & we began arranging equipment & schedules. We shot in the middle of SURFERS PARADISE on schoolies week - a one room bar was main location so rest area was outside. We had a matress, chairs etc. but we had to keep kicking the schoolies off our stuff.

STORY OUTLINE

JAKE is a big guy doing time after being set up by the GOAT. On his release GOAT kidnaps JAKEs girl HAVANA to keep him under control but JAKE goes underground to the bar for info!
Alerted JAKE is back GOAT & his gang come to the bar where they end up in a mexican stand off until 2 Young Punks intending to rob the bar interrupt & a bloody shootout decides HAVANAs freedom.

The actors on this shoot were among the most talented & professional I have ever worked with & my crew ever so supportive we lived like one big family in one big house & I believe this added some "magic" to the production.

We also had a delay on the day we had the armourer Alan Mowbray from AV BALLISTICS so we were shooting a table full of real guns & ammo at 3 in the morning yet ALAN stayed until the job was "in the can" for that I am forever grateful.
