COMEDY 7 minutes

WHALEBOAT was filmed in 1999 & was Mandie's first film filling the mulitple roles of PRODUCER, PRODUCTION MANAGER, 2nd ASSISTANT DIRECTOR & CASTING DIRECTOR. Hired by Ashley Bradnam (100% Tony Squires) who was EXECUTIVE PRODUCER as well as LEAD ACTOR.

Cullen Black came on board as co-PRODUCER & we began location scouting, casting & gathering crew.

A few weeks later Judd Tilyard was appointed DIRECTOR & bought with him the talented bunch of boys from MEDIASTORM.

It was a pretty successful shoot except for the sheep - He was let out before the vets drug had taken effect & ran off into the grassy countryside with the EP following closely then the Director, then makeup & sound - so here is this little white sheep running accross the countryside with half the crew chasing him! It is funny looking back but on the day very stressful. The vet had to be called back & we were running behind schedule at this location.

At the end of the day the property owner came with a shot gun to tell us time was up, we gave him his fee (a 40 oz bottle of rum) & he invited Mandie & Colin in to help him drink it - a good time all round!

STORY OUTLINE

This is a story about Ned, a uni student with Speilberg aspirations. He writes a script about a WWF wrestler from the country who thinks its all real & practises wrestling with sheep on his property. Ned goes to a bunch of film producers who tell him no way this will never work, so Ned puts a camera in the girls toilet & sells copies of the footage from the back of his ute at uni, earning him $5,000 enough to make his WWF film himself. He does & you know what - now he IS a film maker!
